Jessica Mauboy Biography

 

Jessica Hilda Mauboy was born to parents Ferdy and Therese on August 4, 1989, in Darwin, Northern Territory. Her father, an electrician, is from Indonesia’s West Timor island, and her mother is from Australia’s Far North Queensland’s rainforest. She has one younger sister, Sophia, and three elder sisters named Sandra, Jenny, and Catherine.

She started her education at Wulagi Primary School in Darwin and continued on to Sanderson High School before she left at the age of eleven. Her parents were also musicians, thus she grew up in what was reportedly the “noisiest house on the block” due to their constant singing and guitar playing. Ever since she was a little girl, she and her grandma Harriett have been regulars in the church choir.
